Global Goal #12
To implement the ten-year strategy directed at transition towards the rational consumption and effective production models, by involving the participation of all countries, as well as taking into account the development and potential of countries with developing economy. The developed countries and mature economies ought to make that strategy the first thing on their list.

To upgrade the quality and degree of technological sophistication and innovation of Ukrainian industries and fields of operation. To secure energy modernization of Ukrainian enterprises, while taking into consideration mitigation measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The concept of energy efficiency training networks.
The Training Networks for Energy Efficiency (LEEN stands for "Learning Energy Efficiency Networks") were introduced in order to strengthen the development of mutual cooperation between industrial enterprises in liaison with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

With these networks, 10 to 15 regionally based companies from different sectors share their energy efficiency experiences in moderated meetings. After the companies have formed the network, the process starts with an energy review and the identification of profitable energy efficiency measures in each company. In such networks, companies work together on a partnership basis to learn from each other and achieve agreed energy saving goals.

The LEEN concept is based on the own initiatives of enterprises and associations. Thanks to the involvement of German specialists, the project provided an impetus to identify its own initiatives and supported the creation of the necessary structures on the ground. Employees of chambers and associations received trainings on moderation and technical support on the part of LEEN networks (in consort with 10 moderators and 12 consulting engineers for energy efficiency training networks).

By mobilizing its own initiatives and strengthening the capacity of the companies involved in the network, LEEN makes a significant contribution to further sustainable development of the project's results in improving energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions in Ukrainian industries (small, medium and big enterprises).

To increase the productivity in the economy through diversification, technical modernization and innovation, focusing at the same time on high value-adding sectors, as well as labor-intensive sectors.
To boost gradually global resource efficiency in consumption and production systems by the end of 2030, along with making efforts to ensure that the economic growth is not accompanied by environmental degradation, as forecast in the ten-year strategy, directed at transition to rational consumption and production.
Based on the results of the open competition, 70 enterprises from 4 industries were selected to have a pilot energy audits performed and to develop pilot projects for increasing and promoting energy efficiency at enterprises. Advice and support are provided to companies by local service organizations who have been trained by the international experts and are being receiving further support and back-up from them.
The support was provided to the Lviv Chamber of Commerce and Industry in establishing the first LEEN network.
The first branch network of energy efficiency bakers was formed thanks to the LEEN initiative, which included 13 enterprises from the bread and bakery products' industry, encompassing seven regions of Ukraine.

As part of the joint work of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and GIZ, energy audits were conducted at all enterprises of the LEEN network. As a result of these activities feasible measures to improve energy efficiency were offered for each enterprise.

The participants decide upon a joint target, which is allocated to the partners according to their efficiency potential. An important step in the existence of such a network is the joint determination of energy efficiency goals by the participating companies and the solemn signing of a voluntary commitment by the heads of the network companies to reduce energy consumption, as well as CO2 emissions.

Consequently, in 2019, as part of the project, the Network of Manufacturers of Energy Efficient Building Materials was established, that by the same token, included 13 enterprises from different regions of the country.

11 different enterprises from the region plan during 18 months.
