14.1:
GOALS
To ensure the prevention and significant reduction of any pollution of the marine environment, resulting in land-based activities and pollution by marine litter and nutrients.
SOLUTION
The concept of development of nature protection activities by the state enterprise "Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority" is created, with the aim of the following activities:

• prevention of environmental pollution;

• more effective control of the consequences of pollution, including for safe handling;

• efficient and rational use of resources;
RESULTS
The USPA environmental management system has been introduced.

The USPA's employees responsible for environmental safety are properly trained.

Jointly with businesses, the State Regulatory Service and the State Ecological Inspectorate, a procedure for cooperation between the USPA and the Ecological Inspectorate has been developed to ensure compliance with environmental legislation in case of ship discharges of pollutants within the seaport.

Together with the experts of the TRACECA project, the plans for the management of ship-generated waste and cargo residues have been developed and implemented.

The forces and means for localization and elimination of pollution in 8 ports of Ukraine were updated and replenished.

PROJECT'S IMPACT ON BUSINESS
"Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority" (hereinafter called – "the USPA") is one of the largest state-owned enterprises, which is of strategic importance for the economy and security of Ukraine. The USPA was established in 2013 as a result of the reform of the maritime sector of Ukraine aiming to ensure efficient management of state property in the seaports of the country, and the creation of mechanisms to attract investment funds in port infrastructure for its development and stable business. The USPA is part of the management of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and unites Ukrainian seaports and other infrastructure objects, contributing to the development and competitiveness of each of them.

• participation in international events on the protection of the marine environment, dissemination of knowledge about the preservation of the natural environment among the public.
Minimization of the effects and impact on marine and coastal ecosystems due to pollution.
14.2:
Ensuring the adequate level of environmental protection measures in the waters of seaports that stretch along the coast of the Black and the Azov Seas.
14.5:
A pilot project on environmental monitoring of seaports with the help of an automated system of sensors, unmanned aerial vehicles and satellite imagery is being introduced. For 2015 - IQ 2020, monitoring studies of the state of the environment in the waters of 13 seaports on an area of over 73.5 thousand hectares were conducted.

Children's competition the "Green Wave" was held in the Yuzhny Sea Port.

Regular updates of the public about the environmental activities of the USPA is provided.

Representatives of the USPA took part in the meetings of the Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization and the Danube Commission, participated in workshops of the International Maritime Organization on Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation.
