By 2030, build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters.
Reduce the amount of waste in the food industry and fight against hunger by donating food and nonfood products to people in need – children, people with disabilities, pensioners, people in need.
Close cooperation with food bank organization; implementation of regular charitable initiative: "METRO Mykolay", "Share Easter breakfast", "Collect a school bag", aimed at collecting food and nonfood goods for charitable and non-profitable organizations in all cities of METRO Stores operation in Ukraine.
METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine cooperates with Kyiv City Charity Foundation "Food Bank" within the concept of food bank – the company donates food and nonfood products that are near expiration or have damaged packaging to Food Bank, the representatives of which distribute food to non-profit organizations in the biggest cities of Ukraine.

The donations have already received more than 90 organizations. Among the recipients – orphans, families in need, people with disabilities, refugees, pensioners.
"ASPERN" charitable organization
As a result, 4 projects won:
with the project "Healthy cuisine for children and young people", which aims at improving the nutrition programs for children and young people, who lives in rehabilitation centers and increasing the competence of employees, who work with children on healthy eating and healthy lifestyle, conducting various events and culinary workshops.
"Caritas Mariupol" charitable foundation
with a project that aims to create a crisis fund to meet the basic needs of people in difficult circumstances.
"Caritas Poltava" charitable foundation
with the project "Training kitchen for youth with disabilities", which aims to create and equip a training social kitchen, where young people with disabilities will be able to get culinary skills and have cognitive meetings.
"Liarsch Covcheh" non-governmental organization
with project "My Peculiarity – My Benefit", which aims to increase the level of socialization of people with intellectual disabilities in society, to increase their social and everyday skills (self-care, positive behavior, cooking, cleaning, use of money, orientation in space, use of electrical engineering, etc.).
According to the company's statistic the main part of donations are from DRY, Bakery, Confectionary and Fruits & Vegetables assortment.

The company conducted "You can – METRO will help" social program, the aim of which was to support charitable and non-governmental organizations in their implementation of helping people in need projects and provided them with food and non-food assistance. 27 charitable and non-governmental organizations applied to the social program with 54 projects that are the part of their long-lasting strategy.
