INCREASE ACCESS TO HIGH-SPEED MOBILE INTERNET AND TELECOMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES IN UKRAINE
Increase an access to the information and communications technologies and provide high-speed mobile Internet all over Ukraine.
Since 2015, the company has been implementing 3G and 4G technologies to provide the data transfer services based on a wide range of mobile technologies, as well as the company has created the digital literacy education programs:
• In 2015, Kyivstar launched the data transfer services based on 3G technology;
• In April 2018, Kyivstar launched the data transfer services based on 4G technology;
• Since 2015, Kyivstar has invested over UAH 25 billion in the acquisition of licenses for frequency spectrum, the construction of infrastructure and base stations for the development of 3G and 4G in Ukraine;
• In September 2019, Kyivstar opened the first online digital literacy school. Currently, a basic course of mobile literacy "Smartphone for Parents" is available on the platform, the purpose of which is to help the older generation to master modern technologies and devices.
As of April 2020, 4G network of the national telecom operator Kyivstar covers more than 11,000 settlements, in which almost 79% of the population of Ukraine lives.
As of April 2020, 88% of Kyivstar subscribers have access to the high-speed 4G mobile internet and 91% to 3G.
After the launch of 4G communication by the operator in April 2018, more than 10 million subscribers have already used the new technology services, and in total more than 16 million Kyivstar subscribers use the mobile Internet services.
The company provides the highest average speed of mobile Internet with respect to other networks in Ukraine. This is confirmed by 2018 and 2019 data of the international companies Ookla and nPerf, which analyze the speed of mobile networks around the world. Thus, for the last year the average speed of the mobile Internet in Kyivstar 4G network was 27.7 Mbps.
According to the analysis of NPS of Kyivstar subscribers conducted by the company, as of the 1st quarter of 2020, the penetration of smartphones among subscribers aged 55+ was 50%, which is 12% higher than the same index as of the 1st quarter of 2019.
